My first passport photo, taken when my dad was transferred to Italy. I see this picture now and immediately imagine a six-year-old secret agent.
Ninth grade at Jefferson Junior High, which has since closed down. I think they took one look at the hair and the polyester leisure suit and decided it was best to shut down the school.
Sort of a “Revenge of the Nerds” moment: Inducted into the Cooper High School Hall of Fame - which led to my horribly embarrassing moment with Mrs. Bauernfeind (see Chapter 7).
Another big honor in 2019: Inducted into the Colorado Authors Hall of Fame. All those years as a kid, absorbing every word of the Hardy Boys and Isaac Asimov, paid dividends as an adult.
At the start of my sleep test, which led to this order from my doctor: “Leave Colorado and get closer to sea level.” But this is sexy, right?
